  • GIles Corey and John Proctor go to court to defend their wives against witchcraft.

  • They bring a petition signed by the people of the town to help their case in defending their wives with Mary Warren claiming it was all pretense and her along with the girls, never saw any spirits.

  • Judge Danforth is very hesitant to believe what they are saying, he doesn't want to be proven fooled by the girls playing pretense and destroying his ego for the people he has already hung and the others in jail

  • Giles is thrown into jail for not telling Danforth the name of a man he heard, and John tells him that he has a letter that will set him free.
  • John confesses to lechery with Abigail, Danforth is still hesitant to believe him because of his big ego.
  • Elizabeth is brought in and questioned by Danforth, she lies telling him that John is not an adulterer and John is then thrown into jail for lying to the court.
