Queen Maya had a dream she was struck in the side by a white elephant with six tusks and was told she would give birth to the Buddha, the ruler of the world.
She then gave birth to Prince Siddhartha in a garden. He could walk and talk as soon as he was born. He said "I am the leader and the guide to the world."
The king was worried if the prince saw the world's suffering he would give up his royal duties to seek a spiritual path. The king raised his son in wealth and beauty. The prince enjoyed his life but always wondered about life outside.
When Siddhartha became a father himself the king let him out of the castle walls. He then learned the three types of suffering: Suffering of Suffering, Suffering of Change, and The All-Pervasive Suffering of Conditioning. The prince was deeply troubled by what he had discovered.
He decided to become an Ascetic and live in the forest with others like him. He gives up all his pleasures.
While meditating one day he becomes enlightened, and becomes the Buddha.
