Helen Battles Sawyer Hogg
She was an astronomer. She was mostly noted for pioneer research into globular cluster and variable and variable star. Helen was born on August 1 1950 in Lowell, Massachusetts. Sadly, she died on January 28 1993 in Toronto at age 92
In 1922 she enrolled at Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley Massachusetts and obtained her bachelor’s degree in 1926. she received her master degree in 1928 and doctoral degree in 1931, both from Radcliffe College in Cambridge Massachusetts.
The Order of Canada named Asteroid #2917 in her honor. The Canadian National Museum of Science and Technology's observatory in Ottawa is named for her. In 1985, the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada and the Astronomical Society of Canada created the Helen Sawyer Hogg Public Lecture
