  • Ouch, my hand!
  • Buck, who lives at Judge Miller's place in Santa Clara, California, is resting under the sun peacefully. He does not have a clue what is about to happen to him.
  • Character vs. Character
  • Hahaha! Now what're going to do?
  • Suddenly, a man by the name of Manuel, breaks into Judge Miller's place. He then kidnaps Buck, but Buck thinks he going for a walk. Manuel then hands Buck over to another person for cash to pay off his debt from gambling.
  • Character vs. Character
  • The next day, when Buck wakes up, he hears the sound of a locomotive and realizes that he's on a train. He was on the baggage part of the train. Suddenly, a man came up to him, tried to choke him, but Buck bit down on his hand and leg.
  • Character vs. Character
  • Now, listen here, you red-eyed devil!
  • Once Buck bites the man, more people come into the baggage car on the train. They tortured Buck, threw him to the ground, and even choked him several times.
  • For two days and two nights Buck remained on the train in the cage. He didn't eat or drink for those two days and two nights, but he was happy about one thing. The rope which Manuel placed on him was gone.
  • I'm so hungry and thirsty. Why did this have to happen?
  • Once he got off the locomotive, he went into a small backyard, with large walls bordering it. There, a man with a red sweater was. He had a club in one hand and a hatchet in another. Although he did not know, Buck was in Seattle, Washington. This is where he would learn to be a sled dog.
