  • What were the soldiers payed with?
  • They only gave us certificates for all the hard work we did!!!
  • WHAT!!!
  • How did Massachusetts legislature pay off debt?
  • Wait I just mortgaged my farm!!!!
  • Did you hear the Massachusetts legislature is making a new tax that we have to pay with hard money?
  • What happened on August 29th?
  • YES SIR!!!!
  • Get in there men and foreclose this puppy!!!
  • The soldiers were payed certificates, most men needed the money right then so they sold them to people for instant money. I would have to be on the farmers side on this one because I would want the money I deserved not promised land in the future.
  • What happened on September 25th - 28th?
  • The Massachusetts legislature paid off debt by raised taxes. The taxes had to be paid in hard money too. Many farmers had mortgaged their farms so the farmers didn't have any money to pay for new taxes.

  • What happened on August 29th was that an armed group of farmers closed The Hampshire County Court of Common Pleas in Northampton. This brought all forecloses to a halt.

  • What happened was Shay and his army of 600 farmers banned together and occupied the courthouse to prevent the Supreme Judicial Court from sitting there. This led to a surprise attack from the 600 farmers.

  • Shay had to come up with a new plan because they were facing a organized militia. He's plan was to make a surprise attack and overrun the new federal arsenal in Springfield.This lead to the farmers later retreating on January 25th.

  • I am pretty sure that he was George Washington, and he observed how the men took what was come. He and James Madison agreed that this was just a warning and told them not to have an out break again.
