Met this deaf girl as he tried to teach her to read. her father was trying to establish a deaf school but never could.
Laurent Clerc amazed Gallaudet since he knew how to teach and speak to the deaf.
Thomas brought Laurent to America to teach deaf people.
Cogswell and Gallaudet persuaded Connecticut Legislature and rich private donors to fund the first public school for dead in the U.S.
Gallaudet was the principle until 1830.
