Language and Religion
Ορθόδοξη εκκλησία (Orthodox Chruch)
Μιλάω ελληνικά (I speak Greek)
The Greek language, Christianity, and customs adopted from groups that have ruled Greece have shaped Greek culture.
One of the oldest languages still spoken in Europe, Greek, is still spoken in Greece where people have changed but not completely lost over time. Though this is true, most ancient religions have been lost and nearly everyone now belongs to the Orthodox Church, a branch of Christianity that dates back to the Byzantine Empire.
Greek customs have been shaped by the history and physical geography of Greece, are influenced by the natives and by the groups who had once ruled, for example Greeks use ingredients easy grown in Greece in their cooking a lot. Another example is that the Greeks have also enhanced ideas for cuisine by other people and though Greece is becoming more modernized, family has remained an important part of society.
