In 468 C.E. Clovis of the Franks defeats the Romans in Gaul.
In 503 C.E. Clovis converts to Christianity.
In 507 C.E. Clovis defeats the Visigoths and drives them into the Iberia peninsula.
In 511 C.E. Clovis, the founder of the Merovingian died.
Facts: - Clovis was the king of the Franks. - He was the founding Father of the Merovingian dynasty. - He became the king at 15 years old after his father died. - Clovis was the first king to rule over all of the Frankish tribes. - Clovis became Christian He realized that if he were to convert to Christianity it would be very beneficial to himself if he ever hoped to secure the loyalty of all of the Frankish people. - In November of 115 C.E. Clovis died, 30 years after he started to rule the kingdom.

He was the first king to rule over all of the Frankish tribes. The family name Merovingian comes from Clovis's grandfather Merovech, who had also fought along side the Romans, dying in 456 C.E.
