  • Flowers for Algernon-Exposition

  • Charlie Gordon, a 37 year old who is still learning many things in his life time.  He is chosen to be a patient for an experimental surgery, to gain 2x his intelligence. His intelligence level  is 67 and trying to figure out how to become smarter.
  • Falling Action
  • Charlie gets the operation, and wonders why he isn't getting smarter over the night. He meets a mouse that has had the operation, called Alergnon. He and Algernon become friends as he realizes that he loves Miss Kinnian.
  • Denouement
  • Charlie can't tell anyone about the operation, but is happy he has friends that he can laugh with. But soon realizes that they aren't his friends ,  because they are laughing at him and they bully him. He then slowly starts to learn more of Miss. Kinnian and what's to come of their relationship. Algernon starts to become unmotivated and sick. The operation has side effects and is starting to unravel for Their relationship.
  • The Ending
  • Algernon has died. The operation failed and now Charlie will suffer the same effects. Algernon had suffered not being motivated and getting angry easily because he couldn't remember things so easily as he did before. Charlie has broken up with Miss. Kinnian because their intelligence levels have changed dramatically and they can't see eye to eye. Day by day he is starting to forget things and is trying to figure out what Dr.Strouss and Dr.Nemur did wrong. 
  • Charlie has failed at trying to fix what the doctors did wrong. He has forgotten how to read and write like he used to when he had a high IQ.  He has wrote a letter on his theory of what they did wrong. After a couple days he has forgotten more and more. He has written a letter to all of his friends and scientists. He went back to his old ways and spelling and is very sad. He wants to get away from his hometown and hopes he will not lose how to read and write.
  • Charlie has been traveling for miles until he forgets his destination and settles down in a run down building. He has forgotten who he is, where he is going and what he did before he was traveling. He no longer knows how to read or write. He feels like a piece of his life is missing and lays down for a nap thinking. Charlie doesn't wake up when dawn comes. Charlie will never wake up again. His lasts thoughts before he went to bed were, 'Were i'm going, i'm going to meet a lot of friends, maybe even old ones.'
