  • The two created the creatures of total darkness; shellfish in the bottom of the dark ocean, worms living deep underground and plants that grow in dark night.
  • Darkness ruled the beginning of time. From the darkness, two creatures were born, Kumulipo and Po'ele.
  • This couple created the fish that swim in the deep seas and land animals living in almost darkness
  • Kumulipo and Po'ele gave birth to Pouliuli and Powehiwehi and the world brightned a bit.
  • Pouliuli & Powehiwehi created creatures of near-dawn; grasshoppers, caterpillars, and night flying insects.
  • Pouliuli and Powehiwehi gave birth to Po'el'ele and Pohaha and the world continued to get brighter.
  • Po'el'ele and Pohaha gave birth to Popanopano and Polalowwehi and the world got even brighter.
  • This couple gave birth to shellfish living in shallow waters and sea turtles.
  • The first dawn was created by this couple and light was finally in the world. They created all the animals of near dawn that run on land and swim in the sea.
  • Popanopano and Polalowwehi gave birth to Po’hiolo and  Po’ne’a’aku and the world was almost at dawn.
  •  Po’hiolo and  Po’ne’a’aku gave birth to the first man, Ki’i and the first woman La’ila’a. The world reached dawn.
  • This couple birthed many children and their skins lightened with each generation
