Storyboard Text

  • Japan Colonization/Imperialism
  • U.S. Oil/Steel Embargo on Japan
  • If we stop giving Japan oil and steel, they won't have the resources they need to attack.
  • Pearl Harbor, Hawaii & the Surprise Attack
  • Should we have listened to the warnings?
  • For the first ten years of Japanese colonialism, Japan ruled completely through the military.
  • Japan During Pearl Harbor
  • Japan got all of it's steal and oil from us.  They were using that against us, we were the source and needed to cut ourselves off.
  • FDR/A Day That will Live in Infamy
  • "Yesterday, December 7, 1941— a date which will live in infamy— the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by the naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan."
  • Pear Harbor wasn't really a surprise attack, we just ignored all of the warning signs and telegrams.  We sunk one of their submarines in our area, but still brushed it off like it wasn't a threat.
  • Relocation Camps
  • Let's get to work for the country that put us here... So much for the unalienable rights.
  • Most innocent Japanese people had no idea what was going on, and were ashamed when they found out what happened.
  • What are those planes doing??
  • The President at the time, Franklin D.  Roosevelt, made a speech the day after the Pearl Harbor event.
  • The Japanese in America were relocated into these concentration camps, sort of like the Holocaust, but less brutal by a long stretch.
