thousands of years ago, people in pacific south America tried to farm on mountainsides as steep as bleachers.
In another civilization on the coast, people scratched outlines of animals and other shapes into the surface of the pervian desert. These designs, known as the Nazca lines, are so large they can only be recognized from the sky.
Incas had no wheeled vehicle or horses.instead, relay teams of runners carried messages from one end of the empire to the other. working togerther, a team of runners could carry a message up to 150 miles in one day.

A new inca ruler, on his way to be crowned king, met the spainish explorer Francico Pizarro. Pizarro captured the inca king who orderd his people to bring enough gold and silver to fill a whole room. These rich's were supposed to be a ransom for kings freedom. instead, pizarro ordered the inca king killed. Fighting broke out, and by 1535 the Spaniards had conquered the incas

By the early 1800s, people in pacific south America began to revolt against spainish rule. Creoles, American-born descendants of Europeans, were the main leaders of the revolts. the success of the revolts led to independence for Chile, Ecuador, Peru, and Bolivia by 1825.
