- Cherry felt like this whole mess was her fault, so she became our spy.
- I don't plan to live in that church for the rest of my life, and I'll probably be let off easy anyways.
- I'm going back to turn myself in...
- What?
- Johnny, I just don't want you to get hurt. Jail changes and hardens you, and I don't want that to happen to you like it happened to me.
- Dally took Ponyboy and Johnny to Dairy Queen to get something to eat. Johnny and Pony were so excited to eat something after what felt like years of eating baloney and bread. While they were eating Dally explained to them what had happened while they were gone, what shocked them the most was how Cherry became the Greasers spy.
- Where are the kids?
- I should be scared, but I'm not!
- Hurry, I think the kids are in the back!
- While they were still at Dairy Queen Johnny told Pony and Dally he is going to turn himself in. Both Dally and Pony were shocked to hear this from Johnny.
- Johnny!
- While they were in the car Dally told Johnny not to turn himself in. Dally cares about Johnny and doesn't want him to get hurt and change the way he did from jail.
- Darry cares about me.
- Oh, Pony, I thought we'd lost you . . . like we did Mom and Dad . . .
- Pony boy and Johnny broke a church window then went inside through it. Running, rushing, and racing the flames and time Ponyboy and Johnny went into the burning church to save children that were trapped inside.
- "Boom! Crash!" the church was crumbling and Ponyboy made it out in time, but Johnny didn't. After Darry slapped Pony's back to get the fire of him and Pony keeled, Darry bolted into the church to save Johnny.
- Ahh!
- Darry and Sodapop visited Pony at the hospital after the accident at the church. As Soda commented on pony hair, for the first time in a million years Darry cried. Darry never cries and the first time he did it was because he almost lost Pony. At that moment Pony finally realized Darry cared about him.
