  • Cell Cycle Comic! by Kaliyah Andrews
  •
  • Remember!!! (My-Toast-Sis) Mitosis is one of the functions that happens in the cell cycle. The cell cycle is the series of events that takes place in a cell leading to it dividing and multiplying of its DNA (DNA replication) to make two daughter cells.
  •
  •
  • During Repair
  • And for Renewal
  •
  • Cell Cycle occurs:
  •
  •
  • During Growth
  • G1 - Growth S - DNA synthesis G2 - Growth and preparation for mitosis M - Mitosis(cell division)
  • Cancer is related to cell growth because cancer is unchecked cell growth. Mutations in genes can cause cancer by accelerating cell division rates or inhibiting normal controls on the system, such as cell cycle arrest or programmed cell death. As a mass of cancerous cells grows, it can develop into a tumor.
  •
  • The proteins that play a role in stimulating cell division can be classified into four groups—growth factors, growth factor receptors, signal transducers, and nuclear regulatory proteins (transcription factors)
  • Fun Facts!
  • For a stimulatory signal to reach the nucleus and “turn on” cell division, four main steps must occur.
