Hi my name is, Akio. Im from a small village in Japan. Work here isnt very nice for a young adult like me. I plan to move to the United States for better jobs and more money! Im super excited to start my new and improved life.
The journey to the US was very memorable! The boat i traveled in was very small and was packed with a lot of other people trying to start their new lives. Sleeping was difficult and the storms were scary. Id be lying if i said i never got sea sick, but id do it a million more times if it got me to America!
The city was very different than i had expected. I thought it would be a better life for me, and although it was in many ways, i wasnt treated very fair. I came here for better work and religious freedom. But to be honest the Americans took advantage. I was working so many hours a day and i barely got paid anything. It was tough, but i wasnt gonna give up.
Although i made more money in the US than i ever could back in Japan, i didnt have enough for a home for a long time. I lived on the street for a while. I didnt realize it until i got here, but not many people liked me, and it was all because of my racial background. I found out that the Asian culture got bashed on the most. I wasnt gonna let that bring me down though!
Being an Asian male was tough. I could get punished by law for a lot of things, because not many people liked me i was accused for false accusations. I didnt really understand English and my education was pour so i didnt qualify for that many jobs and i got taken advantage of a lot.
The struggle of making it where i am today was very hard. But as tough as it was i accomplished my goal! Now i am making a very good amount of money, and have a wonderful family that i love very much. I plan on taking care of them for as long as they need. I never want them to have to experience some of the hard things i went through!
