Lewis and Clark Expedition
It was territory in the western United States purchased from France in 1803 for $15 million. The territory extends from the Mississippi River to the Rocky Mountains and from the Gulf of Mexico to Canada.
The Lewis and Clark Expedition was the first American expedition to cross what is now the western portion of the United States, departing in May, 1804 and ending 1806
Lewis and Clark left Fort Clatsop and tried to travel up the Columbia River. They battled a really strong current and had to ditch their canoes and start travel by land.
