  • Bedside Nurse Patient Advocate
  • Let me speak to your doctor and see if she will order you a stronger medication for your pain.
  • My pain is still at a 9. The pain medication I have been  receiving has not been helping.
  • As a patient advocate, nurse Gabriel needs to speak up for his patient and let Mrs. Garcia's physician know that her current pain medication dosage is not managing her pain. He will use SBAR to relay the message and recommend a higher dose pain medication.
  • I will put in an order for a higher dose to help manage her pain better. 
  • Dr. Bello, Mrs. Garcia is still rating her pain 9/10.  Her current dosage is not managing her pain, I recommend increasing her dose.
  • Nurses are first and foremost a patient advocate.   They must have good communication skills to relay their patient's needs to  other  professionals in the health care team. They always look out for their patient's well-being.
  • Mrs. Garcia, I hope this stronger medication will reduce your pain. Your vital signs look good, I will continue checking up on you.
  • Thank you, I'm already feeling better.
