  • -These are all symptoms of depression. -An estimated 3.1 million adolescents aged 12 to 17 in the United States had at least one major time of being depressed. -That is 12.8% of the U.S. population aged 12 to 17 -More teen girls (19%) than boys (7%) have felt depressed.
  • Causes of Depression: -High level of stress and anxiety -Sports, peers, or academic pressure -Family issues like divorce or abuse -Traumatic events -Heredity: Depression can be passed down
  • Struggles and Ways to Get help: -It can be hard to ask for help, but it is important to do it. -Many teens feel depressed and do not ask for help.  -Tell an adult, a friend, a pastor, a counselor, or a doctor. They can help you. -Counseling, medication, exercise, setting goals, eating healthy, challenging negative thoughts, and doing something new can all be find solutions to depression.
