  • Were the causes of the Glorious revolution just about religion?
  • The what? What's that?
  • ...He was Catholic and England was a Protestant. At the time, Catholics and Protestants hated each other.
  • I hate Protestants
  • We hate King James
  • ..his oldest daughter, Mary is Protestant who's married to William. They both get invited by the Parliament so they can overthrow her father
  • I'll lead my army to London to overthrow your father and to protect you incase it goes wrong.
  • Will, I was just told that the Parliament wants us to overthrow my father, and we must do it for the sake of Protestantism.
  • So long, James
  • ...William and Mary were established as monarchs. King James was replaced by King William III (reigned 1689 – 1702). King William III ruled with his wife until her death.
  • The joint reign is often referred to as "William and Mary"
  • ...James runs away to France making the overthrow of King James II bloodless. This act was called the Glorious Revolution.
  • I shall flee to France before they capture me
  • For a while James II fought against the new king, William of Orange, in Ireland. After being defeated James was granted asylum by France.
  • Ohhhh... Wow! you learn something new everyday
