  • On February 15, 1564 in Pisa, Italy Galileo was born. He was the first of six children.
  • Contribution to the Scientific Revolution
  • His mother Giulia Ammannati and His father was not only Vincenzo Galilei he was a well known musician and music theorist.
  • Relationship with the Church
  • Galileo attended University of Pisa to study medicine, he became fascinated with the subjects mathematics and physics.
  • Circumstances of death
  • Father of modern science; developed an improved telescope leading to the discovery of moons of Jupiter, the rings of Saturn, and the theory of the sun being in the center of the universe rather than the earth.
  • The church made Galileo recant his findings. He was convicted of heresy and put under house arrest. The church did this in order so people didn't believe in something other than the Church and the religion.
  • Although his work built the foundation of astronomy, Galileo unfortunately became too old and developed heart problems causing a fever.
