Miss. Stephanie Crawford spreads rumors about Boo and everyone else so the towns people call her the neighborhood scold and no one takes her seriously. Presenting how poorly people can view you if you are unable to speak truth and "grow up".

Jem took responsibility and outed Dill so his family wouldn't be worried even though Dill and Scout asked him not to. Showing that he has maturity and a sense of responsibility. He would risk his friends being mad at him in order to make sure people know Dill is safe.
Dill realizes how unfairly Tom is being treated and Mr. Raymond talks to them about how no one else really notices. Showing how even at a young age the kids are able to see injustices all around them while adults are still struggling to grasp the idea of equality.
