Storyboard Text

  • Did you hear about that market crash last week? It put us over the edge from recession to depression.
  • I know. I lost my job yesterday, and many of my friends are out of work too.
  • I can't buy any candy today. I could barely afford to pay my rent. Most people are just trying to make enough money to survive.
  • Yes, I can only afford to buy what I really need.
  • Even if we were looking to buy some candy, there is none on the shelves!
  • The GDP has dropped almost 50%! People are not working so less is being made. I just hope the banks do not fail too.
  • I am glad we are recovering from that depression.
  • It has been years since we have been here. I think it is because candy shops have devised a more efficient way of selling.
  • I can finally buy some candy! Lately I have been starting to buy some other luxuries too.
  • I also have some good news. I got my job back! They have even agreed to pay me more than I had been making before. I can afford a lot of candy now.
  • We are great examples of the rise in GDP. As more people get new jobs, they start to want more goods and services.
  • Yes! Since businesses open and companies have to start producing more, like making more candy, the GDP grows.
