We learn in this part of the book that Gatsby wasn't always rich, he dropped out of collage and did low paying jobs. He met yacht owner Dan Cody who taught him all about living the upper class life. this is when Gatsby became determined to become wealthy and successful.

This is the terrible part of the book where Myrtle gets run over by a car. Daisy is driving the car but everyone thinks its Gatsby that killed myrtle because it was his car.
In this scene Gatsby continued to profess his love for Daisy while Nick try to tell him he should forget about her.

This is where George, the garage owner, believes that Gatsby was having an affair with Myrtle so he shoots and kills him. Gatsby dies because he takes the blame for Daisy.
