Storyboard Text

  • Do you know where Mr. Gatsby is?
  • I have no idea .
  • "The books?" (Fitzgerald 45)
  • "About that. As a matter of fact you needn't bother to ascertain. I ascertained. They're real." (Fitzgerald 45)
  • "What!... Oh, I beg your pardon." (Fitzgerald 48)
  • "I'm Gatsby" (Fitzgerald 48)
  • "As soon as I arrived I made an attempt to find my host" (Fitzgerald 42) Nick arrives at the party and begins to ask people where he is. Most of the people he asks are deny knowing anything. Nick decides to move to the cocktail table "where a single man could linger without looking purposeless and alone" (Fitzgerald 42).
  • I beg your pardon, but Mr. Gatsby would like to speak to you alone." (Fitzgerald 50)
  • "With me?" (Fitzgerald 50)
  • Nick quickly finds Jordan at the party and ends up sitting with her for dinner. They then go to look for Gatsby and end up in the library with a "middle-aged man, with enormous owl-eyed spectacles" (Fitzgerald 45). The man begins talking about how the books are real and then asks Nick and Jordan who brought them to the party.
  • "I know very little about driving-next to nothing. It happened, and that's all I know." (Fitzgerald 54)
  • "Well, if you're a poor driver you oughtn't to try driving at night" (Fitzgerald 54)
  • After time spent searching Jordan and Nick end up at a table with another man and a girl. The girl laughed at everything while the man recognizes Nick from the war and begins to talk to him. After a while, the man introduces himself as Mr. Gatsby.
  • After meeting Gatsby he was quickly called away for a phone call. Later on in the night, he returned and the orchestra played a song in his honor. Gatsby's butler then appeared and told Jordan that Mr. Gatbsy would like to speak to her. After Jordan finished talking with him she seemed very excited but would not tell nick the details of the conversation.
  • After he gets his hat Nick decides to leave the party, but when he goes outside he stumbles across quite a scene. He watches along with a number of others as the aftermath of a car accident unfolds. Nick quickly recognizes the man from the library and they proceed to have another strange conversation. After watching arguments for a short time, Nick returns home.
