In 1901 McKinley was shot by an anarchist - fear started to rise against communists and anarchists.
in 1919 a series of bombing strikes occured due to the fear of communists and anarchists leaving them always in the blame.
Many anti-sedition bills were proposed- over seventy- but Congress was unable to enact any of them. The public criticized the bills, newspapers were seeing them as censorship if they did go into motion.
