  • People cut down trees for cattle ranching. This puts 340 million tons of carbon into the air.
  • May through September is dry season for the amazon. People use the land after the trees are burned down for cattle ranching and to farm soybeans.
  • People also use a lot of the amazon as crops. They plant things like cotton, palm oil, sugar canes, and rice. Brazil has the most crop area (67%).
  • Brazil has the most herds of cattle. They have 88% of the cattle. Then followed by Peru and Bolivia.
  • Soybeans are planted the most. They put soybeans in vegetable oil, so demand for them is high. It's guessed that the demand for soybeans will only increase.
  • People chop down trees to build neighborhoods. The are building neighborhoods because the population is growing so fast.
