Storyboard Text

  • We are proud to announce the nominee for the Supreme Court: Jane Smith
  • Thank you! I am honored to be nominated.
  • Well, I believe that I have great financial records. I have never paid a bill late.
  • So, Mrs. Smith, tell me about your financial records.
  • Yes, I feel that I am qualified to be on the Supreme Court because of my Experience
  • Do you feel that you are qualified to be on the Supreme Court?
  • This is the beginning of the nomination process. The president nominates someone of their choice and the process begins. Before, there is typically a Litmus test to get information about how the nominee will operate and has operated in the past
  • Now, the full senate will determine if they feel that Smith is qualified
  • I feel that Smith is qualified to be on the supreme court.
  • This process is called vetting, in which members of senate ask the nominee question about their history, such as financial records. Borking is discrediting a candidate for their position.
  • All we have to do is wait to hear from the senate to see if you will get the vote
  • This is where the senate hears the qualifications of the nominee and he/he is given a chance to respond to anything the senate may bring up. Then the committees vote on the nominee.
  • Thank you! I am honored to be on the Supreme Court!
  • Congratulations to our new member of the Supreme Court, Judge Jane Smith!
  • This is where the senate debates on the nominee to determine if they think the nominee will be a good Judge.
  • Here is where the senate voes on the nominee. In order to win the nomination, the Judge must recieve 51% of the senators votes.
  • The Judge received enough votes and is now on the Supreme Court.
