Storyboard Text

  • Gene
  • I want to fix your leg up.
  • Finny
  • No, I just wanted to see if I could do it. Now I know. But I don't want to do it in public.
  • Brinker
  • After all, there is a war going on. Here's one soldier our side has already lost. We've got to find out what happened.
  • Gene cares about Finny enough to walk to the Infirmary at night to check on him. He wants to make Finny happy and secure.
  • Leper
  • You get carted up, and then you whizz down. You never get to see the tree or anything. Oh you see a lot of trees shoot by, but you never get to really look at trees, at a tree.
  • (The background is the pool). Finny does not want his accomplishment to be made public because he his modest. He does not want to be awarded because he was doing it for fun, not competition.
  • Dr. Stanpole
  • This is something I think a lot of boys your generation are going to see a lot of and I will have to tell you about it now. Your friend is dead.
  • Brinker is curious and cares about Gene's tendency to make decisions influenced by Finny. He wanted Gene to admit to the public what he had done. He wants to prove lessons publicly.
  • Quackenbush
  • Get some towels. As many as you can carry. That won't be too many.
  • Leper is an aesthete who looks at the beauty in nature. He also likes to spend time alone, so he is more introverted.
  • Dr. Stanpole understands one of the main struggles of the war is death. From comforting Gene, he comes across as an understanding, experienced person.
  • This scene shows that Quackenbush does not treat Gene with respect. Also, is a bossy and rude person.
