Storyboard Text

  • Demeter and Persephone
  • Retold by Katie Griffin Long ago in Ancient Greece there was a goddess named Demeter, who made the plants grow, and her daughter Persephone.
  • I found Persephone's belt. I think Hades took her to the underworld.
  • Thank you so much! I am going to talk to Zues about getting Persephone back.
  • One day Persephone was playing in the flower field alone when Hades, god of the underworld, captures Persephone and takes her to the underworld to be his wife. While all of this was happening Persephone lost her belt.
  • If you don't get Persephone back the Earth will be cold and lifeless forever.
  • Okay i'll get her back.
  • This is Persephone when she was in the underworld being Hades wife. While she was down there she also ate some pomegranate seeds which isn't good. Once you eat pomegranate seeds you can't leave the underworld.
  • Im so glad that I have you back Persephone.
  • When Persephone's belt fell off a shepherd found it and gave it to Demeter. Also, The Earth was getting colder because Demeter was getting sad that her daughter was taken to the underworld.
  • Demeter went to talk to Zeus. He said that for every pomegranate seed she ate she had to stay one month in the underworld.
  • One month a year Persephone had to go down to the underworld. When she had to do that the world turned cold. Thats why we have seasons.
