Sophie the photographer was walking the beach when she saw coconuts appearing in a tree. She is standing 18 feet looking at the tree and an angle of 70. She wonders how high the coconuts are in the tree. She uses trig! She finds out tan (70) 18 = 49.4 feet. Th coconuts are 49.4 feet high.
Since her camera lens doesn't reach the coconut for a clear picture she spots another palm tree with four coconuts at the height of 12 feet and the angle of the tree is 62. She wants to figure out how far from the tree she is. She finds that 12 / tan (62) = 6.2 feet. She is 6.2 feet away
She begins to zoom in and take the picture and the coconuts are half rotten... She begins to think she isn't going to get the picture she has always dreamed of. She wasn't going to give up.
Across the way she spots two palm trees. One with a very unique look and the other with tons of coconuts. She decides to take a close up picture of the coconuts on the palm tree. Since she is 4 feet away from a 10 foot palm tree. to find the angle of elevation she uses trig. The angle is tan-1 (10/4) = 68.1 feet
She is able to get a clear picture of the coconuts and the unique palm tree. She then goes to relax on the beach and edit her pictures
She is very pleased with the way her pictures turned out. She uploads her pictures to her photography site. She is excited to get some feedback on her pictures. As the sun sets she begins to gather all her things and head home.
