Storyboard Text

  • Don't mourn for me here - build a giant fire in my honor so I can finally move on to the underworld!
  • Hector will be devoured by dogs!
  • I'm so sad and tired...
  • Achilles is mourning on the beach when the ghost of Patroclus comes to visit him - and tells him how to properly bury him.
  • I'm not going to participate because I would obviously win and I want to give other people a chance.
  • The men gather wood and build a tremendous fire - and throw animals and people on it to honor Patroclus. The fire won't start, so the wind gods come to help out, and Achilles hopes Hector is devoured by dogs.
  • I want the silver salad bowl! Fight me for it!
  • No I want the silver salad bowl!
  • I'll fight anybody!
  • Achilles mourns all night, and when he wakes the fire is out. They douse the fire with wine, and gather Patroclus' bones.
  • This is the worst day of my life.
  • Achilles decides to hold a series of competitions with lavish prizes to honor Patroclus' memory. He calls all the swift charioteers, and they have a pretty intense race where wits beat out fast horses.
  • They have a boxing competition, a wrestling match, a footrace, a spear throwing competition, and a fight in full battle armor. The winners get silver salad bowls, beautiful horses, and a pretty fancy cup.
  • They have an archery competition trying to shoot a dove - the first competitor doesn't pray to Apollo and only frees the bird. The second prays and then kills the dove.
