Storyboard Text

  • Exposition - Mother has been running her husband's coffeehouse ever since his death before her daughter Matilda had been born. A strange disease is about, which leaves Mother to be more protective towards her daughter to keep her safe.
  • What work? I already have done what you told me! I never get to go out!
  • You can't go out today, you have work to do.
  • Rising Action - After a friend of Matilda's has mysteriously died, more speak of the disease is spreading, the Cook family doesn't believe it until a night at the rich Ogilive's, where their oldest daughter suddenly falls ill, leaving the family in terror
  • Fever!
  • Rising Action - Mother suddenly falls ill and is dumped out of a wagon in front of the coffeehouse, doctors try to treat her and soon aren't sure if she's going to live after the last few patients.
  • Mother!
  • Climax - Mother sends Matilda and Grandfather away to keep them safe from the fever spreading, although that doesn't stop her from worrying.
  • I can't stop worrying, I was supposed to keep my family safe but now I can't
  • Falling Action - The frost comes and Mother is still frail and weak, she hopes that her family is okay so she goes to the coffeehouse to return to see if her hopes are reality
  • Your alive!
  • Mother comes home and learns what Mattie went through and can't run the coffeehouse any longer, she lets Matilda take the responsibility of it for her
  • Ill run the coffeehouse for you, I'm responsible enough.
