Scout punches cousin Francis at Christmas because he calls Atticus a "n***** lover." Uncle Jack spanks Scout because Francis says he didn't do anything to her.
Scout tells Uncle Jack about what Francis says but makes him promise not to tell Atticus. Later, Atticus says that Jack doesn't understand kids and that he just needs to be honest with them.
Atticus thinks the trial will be hard on Scout and Jem.
Reasonable people go mad when anything involving a black person comes up.
