Parliament is better!!!!
That is a lie!
James I believed in Divine right of kings. He thought that he did not have to work with parliament. He started tension between monarchy and parliament.
but he is my father
we could take over
There was tension between Round heads who supported parliament and cavaliers(royalists) who supported the king. There disagreement started the Civil war. Oliver Cromwell was the new leader for the army to fight against King Charles and the Cavaliers because he believed in Parliament.
Oliver Cromwell wins against King Henry and the Cavaliers. King Charles was beheaded and after he died Cromwell abolished monarchy and set up common wealth. He also set up military dictatorship. Cromwell ruled until he died in 1658. After he died the army decides to restore England's monarchy.
This is a great idea!!
James II became king in 1685 and Parliament became worried. A group of English nobles encourage William of Orange to take over England. William was married to James II's daughter, Mary. They talked about it and decided to go against her father and invade England. James II fled to France because he realized he had little to no support from England.
The Revolution was won with no bloodshed. William a Mary walked into England and took over because James II had fled. They accepted to offer to the throne.
The Parliament of England passed the English Bill of Rights. It laid foundation for constitutional Monarchy. Monarchy and Parliament ended up on working together and destroyed the idea of Define Right of Kings.
