  • Hewas born February, 1818 in, Bay Side Talbot Country,Maryland.He was born on a plantation and his mother was a slave. His father is said to be the plantation owner Mr. Auld. All he know about him is that he was white. He did not have any siblings. His mother died when he was age 12.
  • Abolitionist
  • Sophia Auld had taught him the alphabet. But after Mr Auld had got upset. Frederick asked boys around the neighborhood to teach him.Around the age of 12 Frederick purchased a book called The Columbian Orator. This book influenced his understanding.

  • Frederick first escaped when he was 18 and failed. He was returned to the Aud Family. Again when he was 20 he escaped and succeeded. Frederick had a wife named Anna Murray. Frederick's kids were Lewis Henry Douglass, Charles Remond Douglass, Annie Douglass, Rosetta Douglass,and Frederick Douglass, Jr.Frederick also remarried after Anna's death to Helen Pitts Douglass.
  • Death
  • Frederick wrote a lot. Frederick wrote his own narrative and wrote a newspaper called The North Star. Frederick traveled and attended many meetings. Frederick dedicated most of his life to stop slavery. Frederick also worked with many famous people.
  • Frederick Douglass petitioned President Lincoln to make the Emancipation a war aim. The Emancipation was issued January 1863. Many slaves faught in the war.
  • Abraham Lincoln
  • Frederick died February 20th 1895. Frederick was 77 years old. Frederick had dropped dead. He was buried in The Mount Hope cemetery in Rochester.
