Storyboard Text

  • John Proctor brought Mary Warren to the courthouse in Salem to give her deposition to Danforth. Mary's deposition said that her and the other girls were faking when they claimed witchcraft in court. In the Deposition, Mary also admits she made the poppet and had stuck the needle in it for safekeeping. The poppet symbolizes revenge.
  • After reading Mary's deposition, Danforth calls Abigail and the other girl's to the courthouse. He asks them if they have been faking their accusations of witchcraft like Mary had said. Abigail tells Danforth that Mary is lying.
  • After saying Mary was lying, Abigail claimed she felt a cold wind and the girls became very cold. Than, Abigail pointed to the ceiling and said that there was a yellow bird that Mary's spirit had sent to hurt them. The girls all began to point up and became very frightened and started screaming and panicking. The yellow bird symbolizes witchcraft.
  • Since the court no longer believes Mary Warren, John admits that he and Abigail had an affair. He says this in an attempt to discredit Abigail and possibly safe Elizabeth from being hung. Than, John tells Danforth that he can ask Elizabeth to prove that he is telling the truth. John tell the court that his wife, Elizabeth never lies.
  • Danforth has Elizabeth brought to the courthouse so he can see if her husband, John is telling the truth. When asked if her husband did have an affair with Abigail she says no in an attempt to help her husband. Elizabeth's response is ironic because John said she never lies and she just lied.
  • Mary Warren turns on John Proctor and claims he is with the Devil. She says that he made her sign the Devil's book or he would murder her. She said she would not be hung with John. Mary than ran to Abigail and said she would never hurt her again. After Mary's confession, Danforth charged John Proctor with witchcraft.
