  • Cassie refuses to think the society made a mistake when choosing her match. She has the mind set that everything the society does is right and she knows she loves Xander but she thinks, could she possibly love Ky also she thinks about how Ky's an aberration and it couldn't be possible.
  • The Ultimate Boon
  • Cassie gets poems from her Grandfather and reads them in the forest Ky see's her reading them. She begins to talk to him about them and these poems are against the society and have been banned. So, now she going against the society by keeping the poems.
  • Refusal of Return
  • Cassie falls in love with Ky who supports her through everything and tries to keep her safe. Her mother,father, and Xander also does the same. All these people break many rules to keep her safe. Xander still loves and cares for her even after she tells him she's in love with Ky.
  • Rescue from Without
  • Ky is taken away after Cassie is suppose to sort on real people and she sorts Ky into the group getting new work positions. She thought it would be better for him but now he's sent to the Outer provinces to fight. After Ky gets taken away the people have to take their red tablets that are rumored to cause death and Cassie drops her tablet then pretends to take it.
  • Cassie wants to stay in her town where all her memories were made. She doesn't want to leave Xander who she still loves. She doesn't want to leave the places where she shared memories with her grandfather or the place where she met Ky.
  • Cassie goes to the museum to ask about the poems and to find out about the outer provinces. She then finds out more about the outer provinces in hope to find Ky.
