  • John D. Rockefeller was known to be one of the most powerful men during the late 1800's to early 1900's due to his success of the oil industry he established known as "Standard Oil"
  • Rockefeller chose the method of refining oil. By doing this Rockefeller was able to produce a fuel known as kerosene. Kerosene eventually was getting a bad name due to various combustion from lamps. Rockefeller took this as an opportunity and by influencing he public that he produces a trustworthy fuel product, resulting in being a popular product and giving Rockefeller the power to eventually control about 90% of the oil in the United States.
  • With the assistance of Tom Scott, Rockefeller will be able to provide every home in the nation with his product. Due to the massive amount of profit Rockefeller begins to buy out his competitors creating a monopoly.
  • Eventually competition risen between Rockefeller and the railroad industry which will then give Rockefeller an opportunity. Rockefeller will then transport his products himself by using pipelines which will eliminate railroads from the oil industry, and without oil for the railroads the railroad industry will slowly collapse.
  • In the end Rockefeller controlled 98% of the kerosene industry, eliminated Tom Scott's railroad industry, became the wealthiest man during his time, and having the net worth of about $225 billion.
