Thomas Ava Edison
Thomas Edison invented the electric lamp.
Edison married twice, to Mary Stilwell and Mina Miller and had six children.
Edison was born February 11, 1847, in Milan, Ohio and the last of the seven children his parents had. He died October 18, 1931, in West Orange, New Jersey.
Edison made the electric lamp as an inexpensive alternative to the gas lamp. Edison was able to make the Electric Light Company with the financial support of the Vanderbilt Family and J.P Morgan. In October 1879 he had a breakthrough using platinum filament but then used carbonized bamboo.
Edison's inventions contributed mass connections as well as making doing things easier or inexpensive.
Thomas Edison had more than 1,000 patents for his inventions.
