  • In this scene, Charlie accuses Tommy of being the monster in order to save himself from the mob.

  • The mob throws rocks at Charlie in fear and confusion. They act as wild animals rather that civilized beings.

  • Charlie and his wife decide keep watch on the Goodmans. After the prejudice that Les Goodman is an alien is rooted in his mind he cannot shake it.
  • Charlie accuses Steve of talking to aliens via radio. Charlie is prejudiced as he as hardly any information about the radio.
  • The neighbors turn on Charlie when the lights turn on suddenly in his house. They are guided by their presumptions instead of rationality.
