Storyboard Text

  • Michaela Kelly January 25, 2017
  • Come down the diner, Jake. We need to chat.
  • 11/22/63
  • I need to tell you lots of crazy stuff, and you're the only person who might believe me.
  • Science Fiction
  • Do it for me, Jake. I'm dying.
  • "Jake. I need to see you. It's Important." pg. 13 This quote is the beginning of the whole plot. Al, the person calling, is asking Jake to come down to Al's diner so they can talk.
  • "I've got a lot to talk about, and I think you're the only one who might listen. Will you listen?" pg. 16 This quote shows us that Al chose Jake because he knew Jake would listen.
  • Here are your newspapers!
  • "Think of it as a dying man's last request," he said. "Go on, buddy. If you really are my buddy, that is. Open the door." pg. 22 This quote explains that whatevere Al needs to show Jake is just behind that door.
  • "Jake?" It was Al's voice, but very faint. It seemed to arrive in my ears by a mere trick of acoustics, like a voice winding for miles down a long, narrow canyon. "You can come back the same way you got there. Feel for the steps." pg. 30 Jake has time-traveled through the steps of Al's closet. Al is encouraging him to go look around and then come back.
  • When you want to come back, come here. The steps will be in the same place.
  • "They dates on both were Tuesday, September 9, 1958." pg. 37 This quote shows us how far back in time Jake went, and the date he will always go to.
  • "I tried to take the fifth step, only there was no fifth step. I bumped my head on the low pantry ceiling instead. A hand grasped my forearm and I almost screamed. "Relax," Al said." pg 44 This shows Jake coming back to Al's diner using the closet steps.
  • Calm down, Jake. It's okay.
