  • Hamartia: A Fatal Flaw
  • Hubris: Pride or Self-Confidence
  • Peripeteia: A Sudden Reversal of Fortune
  • Romeo is impulsive and does things without thinking first, such as marrying Juliet after only knowing her for less than 24 hours.
  • Anagnorisis: A Critical Discovery
  • Romeo is having such a great time with Juliet that he feels as though nothing can go wrong with his life.
  • Nemesis: The Inescapable Agent of Downfall
  • Romeo kills Tybalt, so Prince Escalus exiles him.
  • Catharsis: Releasing Repressed Emotions
  • Balthazar finds out about Juliet's fake death, and he tells Romeo about it. Romeo believes this since he never got the letter from Friar Lawrence.
  • Since Romeo thinks that Juliet is dead, he goes to the apothecary and buys poison from him.
  • Romeo drinks the poison that he bought from the apothecary and dies.
