In this scene Rainsford is talking to General Zaroff after the General was defeated by Rainsford., this is irony because General Zaroff is expecting to live and Rainsford to die, but in reality Rainsford lives and General Zaroff dies.
In this scene Rainsford is talking to his crew mate Whitney about the island they had just started passing. This is irony because General Zaroff is actually a murderer who lives on the island. You don't expect for the General to hunt humans but he actually does
In this scene General Zaroff has just been defeated and is about to lie down to go to bed. This is irony because in the next scene General Zaroff ends up dying after he had just said better luck next time he actually ends up dying.
