  • Justice and Law is a major theme in the play "A View From The Bridge". During the scene where Marco, Rodolpho, Catherine, and Beatrice are in prison, Alfieri wants Marco's promise he won't do any harm to Eddie. Marco replies, "He degraded my brother. My blood. He robbed my children, he mocks my work... There is no law for that?" Marco wants respect from Eddie like Marco respects him.
  • Catherine tells Rodolpho when they get married, they should go to Italy. Rodolpho is upset with Catherine because there is not as mucj opportunity in Italy compared to New York. " How can I bring you from a rich country to suffer in a poor country?" pg.54
  • Eddie confronts Marco and shouts in front of the crowd, "I want my name! He didn't take my name; he's only a punk. Marco's got my name." pg.76. Marco earlier in the play called Eddie a rat and spat on his face. Marco also yelled out "I blame this one. This is the one who robbed from my wife and children". Eddie wants is dignity back because Marco humiliated him in front of the whole neighborhood.
