  • Why Plant Are Green
  • Plants are green because is made of chlorophyll which makes up chloroplasts, which are green. So the chloroplasts are green which causes the leaves to be green.
  • 6CO2 + 6H2O + sunlight energy = C6H12O6 + 6O2
  • Cellular Respiration
  • C6H12 + 6O2 = 6CO2 + 6H2O + energy
  • The ultimate goal of cellular respiration is to make energy from glucose and use it to make ATP.
  • Stages: Glycolysis, Krebs cycle, and electron transport chain.
  • Light Independent/Dependent
  • ATP and NADPH, two electron carriers, are used in the Calvin Cycle to produce glucose and oxygen.
  • Light energy is harnessed and converted into usable forms -- ATP and NADPH.
  • Anaerobic/Aerobic Respiration
  • Differences: Anaerobic - Can happen without oxygen. Occurs in Cytoplasm. Aerobic - Needs oxygen to occur. Occurs in Mitochondria
  • Glucose + Enzymes = Carbon Dioxide + Ethanol / Lactic Acid
  • The process of producing cellular energy without oxygen.
  • Reactants: glucose and oxygen Products: carbon dioxide, water, and energy (ATP)
  • Occurs in Mitochondria of the cell.
