  • during this era, women were responsible for gathering fruits, nuts, grains, herbs etc. but were also responsible for nurturing young children. so this slide shows a mother with a baby in her arms while putting her child down for bed.

  • the factors of needing more food and a lot of manual labor, reslted in more larger families because more people were needed to work the land and tend the animals.

  • Familys usually consisted of a father, who is the head o the houselhold, his wife and his children. in this scene, the father has just came home from work, while the mother and daughter had supper ready for him.
  • the industrial revolution causes change in families particularly in the roles of women and children. children started going to school thanks to the compuksiry education law instituted in 1871, for children under age 14 in ontario.
