  • The signing of the declaration of independence June 4,1776 *document stating the independence of the 13 colonies from Britain
  • Delagates: People sent or authorized to represent others, in particular an elected representative sent to a conference.
  • The Connecticut Compromise 1787: an agreement that large and small states reached during the Constitutional Convention that defined the legislative structure and representation of each state.
  • Separation of Powers: an act of vesting the legislative, executive, and judicial powers of government in separate bodies.
  • Anti-Federalists/ ratification: The Anti-federalists were a diverse coalition of people who opposed ratification of the Constitution. *Federalists wanted to ratify the Constitution.
  • Articles of Confederation March 1,1781: a document signed by the 13 founding states that established the United States of America as a confederation of sovereign states and served as its first constitution.
