Storyboard Text

  • Hi, my name is Patrick Tillman or you can just call me Pat. I was born on November 6, 1976 in San Jose, California to my parents Mary and Patrick.
  • I put my Arizona Cardinals football career on hold to serve my country. My brother Kevin and I were assigned to the 2nd battalion of the 75th Ranger Regiment in Fort Lewis, Washington.
  • Pat was a corporal in the United States Army for 2 years. He served tours in "Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003, and in Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom in 2004."
  • “Pat knew his purpose in life,” Dave McGinnis, former Arizona Cardinals head-coach said. “He proudly walked away from a career in football to a greater calling.” Pat was a hero because he left his dream job to fight for his country.
  • Man down, I repeat, Man down.
  • Pat stay with me. You will not die today I promise. Where did you get shot? Pat! Pat! Pat wake up!
  • Corporal  Tillman was hit by friendly fire on April 22, 2004.
