  • This battle was between federal troops and the Sioux
  • Surrender your weapons
  • Took place in December 29 of 1890 on the Lakota Indian Reservation
  • By:Ben Glordan and Ben Grimes
  • A shot was fired but know one knows who fired first, this caused a soldier and Indian to fight leading to a battle
  • (war screeches)
  • Soldiers were roughing up one of the Indians because he would not overturn his gun and a fight broke out
  • Who fired?
  • A battle soon erupted leaving 150+ Natives dead and 25 federal dead
  • This "massacre" ended the ghost dancing movement which was the indians practice of rejecting white men behavior
  • The fight was known as the battle of Wounded knee, or the massacre, the soldiers killed men, women, and chirldren
  • Conflict between the plain Indians and the US have stretched three decades after the civil war
  • Medicine Man Yellow bird told his people to begin dancing and they cant take our weapons bullets wont hurt us in our sacred dance
  • When the shot was fired the soldiers opened fire for about an hour killing them and they hunted the ones who tried to run
  • Two boys managed to get guns and hide in bushes and were shooting the soldiers
  • Even though it was more of a masacre
  • This Battle was the battle last battle between US troops and the plain Indians
  • general miles
  • General miles(general at wounded knee) tried to stay far away from the outrage of the public but he was reinstated and the sioux Indians and later near white clay creek he surrounded the soioux again but he gently did it and this lead to no conflict ended the decades long war between the two parties
