Jr and his team eventually blow Wellpinit out by 42 points. After the game he realizes that this was bad. He talks about how none of them are going to go to college and how Rowdy's dad was going to beat him for losing. He realizes that revenge isn't the best thing and he hated it.
At this part, Jr is appreciating his life and he's realizing that he's not alone in his struggles.
At the last part of the book, we see Rowdy mature too. He goes and talks to Jr and he's happy for him. He wants to see Jr leave and travel the world, he wants better for him. Also, Jr is having someone believe in him and he has his best friend back.
